Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) Autumn Webinar Series: discover more about the project and our initial findings from key workstreams

Who it is for: practitioners in the building and water sectors that are curious about water smart communities and how to make them a reality. 

What you’ll learn: you will understand what the project workstreams entail, their findings so far, and how you might engage further in the project and contribute to achieving the EWSC vision.

  1. Introduction to Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC). 02 October 2-3pm  
    Cat Moncrieff from CIWEM will introduce the project, explaining the challenges it’s aiming to address, the EWSC vision and framework, and what people can expect to get out of each of the webinars in the series.

  2. Values focus: ‘Water for People and Places’. 03 October 1-2pm  
    John Hernon from Thames Water will share insights from existing water reuse systems and integrated water management plans, and implications for optimising the shared value of water reuse between developers, local authorities and water companies. Register Here

  3. Community focus: ‘Community perspectives and engagement with water’. 16 October 1-2pm  
    Ella Foggitt from the University of Manchester and Kavindra Paranage from the University of East Anglia will present initial findings from literature reviews, case study interviews and workshops with professionals and potential future residents. Register Here

  4. Assets focus: ‘Onsite Water Reuse’. 22 October 1-2pm    
    George Warren from Anglian Water will share insights on the challenges, opportunities and costs associated with community-level water reuse schemes. This will include outcomes from a recent workshop with water company representatives, and new cost data associated with dual pipe water systems. Register Here

  5. Stewardship focus: ‘Community-led stewardship models for water smart communities’. 06 November 1-2pm
    Stuart Edwards from United Utilities will present initial findings from research into existing stewardship models and co-designing a stewardship model. Stuart has also written an article on this topic. Register Here.
